ECONOMY OF SOUTH SUMATERA PROVINCE IN 2014 GROWING 4.68 PERCENT TO SLOW SINCE THE LAST TWO YEARS

Abstract

- The economy of South Sumatra Province in 2014 measured based on Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) based on current prices reached IDR 308.41 trillion and GRDP per capita reached IDR 38.83 million.

- The economy of South Sumatra Province in 2014 grew 4.68 percent slowing compared to 2013 which was 5.47 percent. From the production side, the highest growth achieved by Education Services was 16.54 percent. In terms of expenditure the highest growth was achieved by the Foreign Export Component of 14.93 percent.

- Economy of South Sumatra Province quarter IV - 2014 when compared to quarter IV - 2013 (y-on-y) grew by 5.96 percent faster than the same period the previous year amounted to 3.91 percent

- The economy of South Sumatra Province in the fourth quarter of 2014 contracted 2.79 percent when compared to the previous quarter (q-to-q). From the production side, this is caused by seasonal effects on the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries business sectors which grew minus 24.71 percent. On the expenditure side, it was caused by slowing growth in household consumption expenditure and high demand for foreign imports
