[National Book Day: Data is the Book of Life, BPS OKU Timur Encourages Literacy for the Nation!]

Happy National Book Day, May 17, 2025! BPS (Central Bureau of Statistics) of Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency observes this day as a reminder of the importance of books as windows to the world and sources of knowledge. In line with BerAKHLAK (Service-Oriented, Accountable, Competent, Harmonious, Loyal, Adaptive, Collaborative), we believe that literacy, including data literacy, is key to the nation's progress.

BPS has a close connection with books and literacy through the provision of data that forms the basis for various studies and research. Furthermore, we strive to enhance data literacy in the community. For example, BPS data recorded that the reading interest level of the community in South Sumatra Province was 69.62% in 2024, which is still low compared to the average reading interest level in Indonesia. This information is important for monitoring literacy development and designing programs to increase reading interest.

BPS OKU Timur Regency is committed to presenting accurate and easily accessible education data, which ultimately supports the improvement of literacy quality. Our vision as an independent, trusted institution that actively supports data-based policy formulation, including in the education and literacy sectors, is to realize an Advanced Indonesia towards Golden Indonesia 2045 with an intelligent and knowledgeable society.
