In 2020, the rice harvested area will be as big as 551.32 thousand hectares with a production of 2.74 million tonnes of GKG. If converted to rice, rice production is at 2020 to reach 1.57 million tons.

Abstract

The rice harvested area in 2020 is 551.32 thousand hectares, an increase of 12.00 thousand hectares or 2.23 percent compared to 2019 which amounted to 539.32 thousand hectares.
Rice production in 2020 amounted to 2.74 million tons of dry unhulled rice (GKG), an increase of 139.66 thousand tons or 5.36 percent compared to 2019 which amounted to 2.60 million tons of GKG.
If viewed from the subround, there is an increase in rice production in the subround May-August and September-December 2020, namely 6.54 thousand tons of GKG (0.81 percent) and 284.99 thousand tons of GKG (76.97 percent) respectively compared to 2019. The decrease only occurred in the January-April subround, namely 151.87 thousand tonnes of GKG (10.64 percent).
If converted into rice for the population's food consumption, rice production in 2020 will amount to 1.57 million tons, an increase of 79.79 thousand tons or 5.36 percent compared to 2019 which amounted to 1.49 million tons.
The potential for rice production in the January-April 2021 subround is estimated at 1.33 million tons of GKG, an increase of 56.86 thousand tons or 4.46 percent compared to the same subround in 2020 of 1.28 million tons of GKG.
